by John Harrison

The present day Loughborough Midland Station opened in 1872 but a previous station opened in 1840 and carried Thomas Cook and his first public excursion from Leicester to Loughborough in 1841.
Many local history books cover the history of the Great Central Railway but the town's Midland Station has a fascinating history of its own. The author's fourteenth local history book explores the history of the station from the perspective of personal experience working at the Grade II listed railway station.
