The British Armed Forces have always been famous for the humour which has sustained them through bad times and good. Many is the time when everything seems to be going wrong or the situation looks grim. A joke or wry remark puts it all in perspective and things don't seem as bad after all.
Clifford Newton is to be congratulated on putting together a fine collection of humourous tales from a wide variety of sources. Old soldiers, sailors and airmen reading them will be reminded of their time in HM Forces and perhaps recall the old dictum "If you can't take a joke, you shouldn't have joined."
